WHAT IS SUBSIDENCE
Subsidence is downward movement of the foundations of a building or a structure due to changes in the underlying soil conditions. Sometimes subsidence is used to refer to occurrence of heave or upward movement of the underlying ground, and also to occurrence of landslip, where the ground slowly slides down a slope.
Common signs of potential subsidence include cracks, uneven floors and unexpected structural damage.
Subsidence can be caused by moisture in the soil or changes in environmental or surrounding circumstances.
Untreated subsidence can lead to significant loss of property and structural value as well as costs to your business.
